Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers
(9) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies.—The “questions” and “genealogies” have been discussed above (1Timothy 1:4). The Apostle characterises them as “foolish,” because they were of an utterly unpractical nature, and consumed time and powers which were needed for other and better things. The “contentions” were disputes and wranglings which arose out of arguments advanced by different teachers upon the “questions” and “genealogies.” The “strivings about the law” were, most probably, arguments suggested by disputed and intricate points connected with the law of Moses. In the Talmud we possess unnumbered instances of all these strange and curious inquiries about which men then gravely disputed and wrangled, but none of which could in any way teach men how to make life more beautiful and loving http://biblehub.com/commentaries/titus/3-9.htm
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
My Old Testament professor had this to say about the ever-popular Jeremiah 29:11: “I am going to destroy what this verse means to you, but then I’m going to reframe it so you understand it better within it’s original context, and then you will love it even more when we’re done.” He definitely had our attention!
We often approach Jeremiah 29:11 as a security blanket: God has a plan for me that is good, so clearly this suffering I’m going through will end soon and then my flourishing will begin! But that is not at all what God was promising to the Israelites, and it’s not what he’s promising us, either.
Author and blogger Mary DeMuth addresses our misunderstanding of this verse in her latest trending post, Jeremiah 29:11 Doesn’t Mean What You Think. As she explains, the heart of the verse is “not that we would escape our lot, but that we would learn to thrive” in the midst of it.Here’s the context: the Israelites were in exile, a punishment from God as result of their disobedience. The prophet Jeremiah confronts the false prophet, Hananiah, who had boldly proclaimed that God was going to free Israel from Babylon in two years (spoiler alert: God doesn’t do this).
Jeremiah calls out Hananiah’s lie, and then states the promise we read in 29:11. God does indeed have a good plan for the Israelites, and it is a plan that will give them hope and a prospering future. Sounds good, right?
The thing is, before he shares this promise, he gives them this directive from God: “seek the peace and the prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (29:7)
This is not at all what the Israelites wanted to hear! They wanted to be told that they were going to go home. They wanted to be told that their suffering was going to end. Instead, God’s plan was for them to stay right where they were, and to help prosper the nation that enslaved them!
And then came the biggest blow of all. In verse 10, God says that he would fulfill this “after seventy years are completed in Babylon.” This meant that none in the current generation of Israelites would ever return to their home. What a crushing thing to be told!
Mary writes:
Yes, of course God knows the plans He has for us. And ultimately He will give us a glorious future. But as we walk out our lives on this crazy earth, let’s remember that the best growth comes through persevering through trials, not escaping them entirely. And when we learn perseverance, we find surprising joy.
What hard thing are you currently going through? In the midst of your suffering, cling to Jeremiah 29:11, but cling to it for the right reason: not in the false hope that God will take away your suffering, but in the true, gospel confidence that he will give you hope in the midst of it.
The psoas is the only muscle in the human body connecting the upper body to the lower body.
The muscle attaches to the vertebrae of the lower spine, moves through the pelvis and connects to a tendon at the top of the femur. It also attaches to the diaphragm, so it’s connected to your breathing, and upon it sits all the major organs.
A functioning psoas muscle creates a neutral pelvic alignment, stabilizes the hips, supports the lower spine and abdomen, supports the organs in the pelvic and abdominal cavity and gives you greater mobility and core strength.
When it functions well, it has the power to…
… help you achieve peak performance day after day after day.
… rapidly drop ugly body fat that stubbornly clings to your body.
… train harder, heavier and gain strength faster than you thought possible.
… hit your peak of sexual health.
… flood your mind and body with renewed energy and vigor.
Put simply, this muscle is the core of activity in your body. So, when it's out of balance or if the psoas tightens, there are serious consequences which flow throughout the body.
And there's one activity, in particular, that's the sworn enemy of your psoas muscle…
THE NO.1 ACTIVITY THAT'S MAKING YOU WEAKER,
FATTER AND IS KILLING YOUR SEX LIFE
Sitting is harmful
It may be the most harmless activity known to man, but it's also one of the biggest dangers to your health.
Sitting!
Even if you're the most active of athletes, you may still suffer from a tight psoas due to the amount of time you spend each day planted to a chair.
Weakness, shortening and tightness develops in the muscle through sitting for extended periods of time, poor sleep posture and even stress and tension.

Elateroidea
Denticollis.linearis.2.jpg
Denticollis linearis, a click beetle
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Coleoptera
Suborder: Polyphaga
Infraorder: Elateriformia
Superfamily: Elateroidea
Leach, 1815
Families
About 15-20, see text
The Elateroidea are a large superfamily of beetles. It contains the familiar click beetles, fireflies, and soldier beetles and their relatives.
Certain clusters of families within the superfamily are more strongly related to one another; for example, the Elateridae have close ties to the Anischiidae, Cerophytidae, Eucnemidae, and Throscidae, and some of these beetles can also "click".
Likewise, the Lampyridae are very closely related to the Drilidae, Omalisidae, Phengodidae (which includes Telegeusidae), and the doubtfully distinct Rhagophthalmidae; members of these families are also bioluminescent, at least as larvae. This group of families also includes many taxa whose females are larviform, though this is also known from a few other families in the superfamily.
The validity and relationships of some families, such as Podabrocephalidae, Rhagophthalmidae, and Rhinorhipidae, are not fully resolved.
Families[edit]
Artematopodidae Lacordaire, 1857 – soft-bodied plant beetles (= Eurypogonidae)
Brachypsectridae Leconte & Horn, 1883 – Texas beetles
Cantharidae – soldier beetles
Cerophytidae – rare click beetles
Drilidae Blanchard, 1845
Elateridae – click beetles (including Ampedidae, Dicronychidae, Lissomidae, Prosternidae, Protelateridae, Pyrophoridae, Synaptidae)
Eucnemidae Eschscholtz, 1829 – false click beetles (including Anischiidae and Perothopidae)
Lampyridae – firefly beetles
Lycidae – net-winged beetles
Omalisidae Lacordaire, 1857 (= Homalisidae, Omalysidae)
Omethidae LeConte, 1861 – false firefly beetles
Phengodidae LeConte 1861 – glowworm beetles (including Telegeusidae)
Plastoceridae Crowson, 1972
Podabrocephalidae Pic, 1930
Rhagophthalmidae (sometimes in Phengodidae, might belong in Lampyridae)
Rhinorhipidae Lawrence, 1988
Throscidae Laporte, 1840 – false metallic wood-boring beetles (= Balgidae, Trixagidae)

Faith is Trusting God, Not Belief in Doctrine
By Jeffrey Small
1k
Are you a believer?
Have you ever been asked this question before? Did the question and your search for an answer make you uncomfortable? Did you wonder to yourself what does this question really mean? For me, the answer to all these questions is “yes.”
When I was growing up, I often heard the popular refrain in Christianity that to be “saved” all one needed was to have “faith.” When asked what “having faith” meant, the reply was typically “believing that Jesus is the son of God.” In other words, all we are required to do in order to have eternal life is to believe a certain set of facts about events that occurred over 2,000 years ago, and whatever else we do in our lives (cheating, stealing, murder, etc.) is irrelevant.
I struggled with this issue because logically it didn’t make sense to me. Why would an all-powerful God, who created all of existence, care about a single belief we held? Anthropologists would say that for the vast majority of us, our beliefs are culturally conditioned. Is the Hindu raised in India with little exposure to Christianity who lives an exemplary life going to hell because she does not believe what an American who grows up in the Bible-belt is taught from a young age? What happens when an article of faith (for example, that God created the world in 6 days 6,000 years ago) contradicts what we know from other disciplines like science, history, and archaeology?
The more I thought about this issue, the more it seemed that the formula of “believe in the doctrine of XYZ” and “you will be saved” was little more than a carrot and stick approach to encourage people to conform to the doctrine of whatever authority was making the proclamation. The history of politics has shown that this exact strategy has been employed countless times (often to terrible results) by authoritarian regimes to compel conformity and thus solidify the power of the institution.
The modern view of believing in Jesus in order to be saved has its roots in Martin Luther’s Reformation which responded to the Catholic practice of selling indulgences (paying the church for salvation) by substituting the doctrine of Justification by Faith as outlined by St. Paul. According to this doctrine, we cannot be saved by our good works because at heart we are all imperfect sinners — our works will never be good enough for God. We are only saved through our faith in Jesus.
However, as Luther’s doctrine has evolved over the centuries, it has been distorted so that “faith” has become synonymous with “belief.” What has happened is that a new requirement has been substituted for good works. Making belief a requirement for salvation is just replacing another kind of work — the mental work of belief in something — as a condition to salvation. It is trying to bring in through the back door the type of human action and interference in God’s salvation that Luther objected to with the Catholic church selling indulgences.
So what is the meaning of Luther’s justification by faith? This means simply that we are already saved. We don’t have to do anything for our salvation, and this includes believing in a specific doctrine. When we combine this theory with the conception of God (which I have outlined in earlier posts) as the creative power behind all of existence (instead of a supernatural being who judges our actions like Zeus from the top of Olympus), we can begin to understand how we are already part of the infinite and eternal power of being. The “Kingdom of God” is already present and real because it is the basis that underlies all reality. However, we do not realize that we are already saved — we do not experience this salvation in our day-to-day lives. We live lives in which our egos dominate us and in which we live apart from the ground of reality that is God. Using an analogy from science, we experience only one side of reality — our bodies and the spaces around us — but if we were to look at reality at the molecular level, reality looks very different — what appears solid is actually made up mostly of space and the empty space around us is filled with particles.
The path to salvation thus becomes more like an awakening, an understanding, and an experience of what is already here but we cannot see. The spiritual path (prayer, meditation, fasting, worship, etc.) becomes a mechanism to peal back the onion layers of who we are and what we think the world around us is, so that we can examine the power of God within ourselves, within others, and within existence itself. Salvation is an opening of our eyes and hearts, a new way of seeing the universe.
Faith then is not belief in a certain doctrine about Jesus, but a trust in using him as an example of what it looks like to live a God-centered life. Through the stories in the Gospels (whether or not the details are historical are irrelevant), we can understand the nature of God’s presence within the world and what a God-centered life looks like: a life of humility, compassion, love without boundaries, a life which experiences suffering and doubt, but a life that ultimately participates in the eternal power of God that transcends death.
We’ve all heard the expression “Try it on faith.” This doesn’t mean, “Believe me” but rather “Trust me, and experience it for yourself.” Faith is about testing, questioning, and doubting. In science these qualities lead to greater truths, why shouldn’t the same apply to religion? For me, religion is about embracing the unknown and the difficult — a journey of exploration that never really gets there because ultimately I am finite. Faith is about being comfortable with my doubts because doubt is part of my search for truth. Faith is not a closing of my eyes and mind to the real world, to science, to modern knowledge, or to experience, but it is the opposite: an opening up and a new way of seeing.
Understanding evolves and changes with information; it is open and dynamic. The history of science shows us that whatever our beliefs and theories are today, they will probably be proved wrong over time, and we will then adapt our theories to the new information. Yet in religion we often hold onto cherished beliefs in the face of contrary facts. I think we should borrow from the model of science and allow our religious beliefs to evolve with time as well. But we should be cognizant of the difference between scientific knowledge and understanding through faith and religious experience. I view faith as another form of knowledge that is based more on insight and wisdom. It is using intuition as a way of understanding versus pure reason. But it should not be in conflict with reason, science, and experience. Therefore when I pose the question at the top of my blog “What do you believe?”, I do so as an invitation to explore your beliefs, to question them, and to engage in a deeper search for meaning that may mean confronting uncomfortable facts and evolving your views.

Communities in some 125 countries
work for peace through Sister Cities
Sister Cities International is a nonprofit, citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between US and international communities. Citizen diplomacy can be described as the concerted attempt to increase global cooperation through unofficial contacts at the primary and individual level.
The sister city movement goes back to 1956 when US President Dwight D. Eisenhower called for people-to-people exchanges at a special White House Summit on citizen diplomacy. The calling of Sister Cities International is to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation - one individual, one community at a time.
Similar to the European ‘twinning’ concept, the partnerships help US cities develop deeper connections with countries in Asia, The Americas, Africa, the Caribbean, Eurasia, Oceania, the Middle East, and Europe. The network represents more than 2,500 communities in 125 countries around the world. As an international membership organization, Sister Cities International officially certifies, represents, and supports partnerships between US cities, counties, states, and similar jurisdictions in other countries to ensure their continued commitment and success.
As an official member of Sister Cities International, members acquire many benefits. They gain the opportunity of networking with all members of Sister Cities International. Through the network, members can gain access to a comprehensive database and search engine that enables them to share information on existing programs. Members can also use an instantaneous translation service in 10 different languages for emails and documents. In addition, the expert professional staff at Sister Cities International provides private consultation services for program development and sustainability.
An elected board of directors governs the organization. A professional staff and an executive director provide membership and program support from the Washington, DC, headquarters. Sister Cities International promotes programs for sustainable development, youth involvement, cultural understanding, and humanitarian assistance.
These are a few of the projects that Sister Cities International has developed:
Sustainable Development
• Sister Cities Network for Sustainable Development
The Network for Sustainable Development assists with capacity building and aids sister city partnerships in expanding or developing new projects based upon the United Nations 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development. Using the Sister Cities International "model," sister city partnerships promote the participation of local citizens at all levels of project development. This includes identifying project areas, suggesting and drafting proposed solutions, overseeing their implementation and evaluating the results. Within this network the organization promotes programs in areas such as HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention; Emergency Preparedness; Transparency and Openness; Information and Communication Technology; and Urban Management.
• Millennium Development Goals Challenge Pilot Program
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) City-to-City Challenge Pilot Program mobilizes and enlists the aid of city-to-city relationships to promote sustainable development. Sister Cities International, in cooperation with the World Bank Institute (WBI), selected three sister city partnerships for this exciting project. These cities agreed to focus on MDGs as part of their active membership in the Sister Cities Network for Sustainable Development.
• Open World Leadership Program
The Open World Leadership Program aims to advance ideas on accountability, transparency, and citizen participation in governments in Eurasia. The program brings Russian, Ukrainian, and Uzbek elected officials, political candidates, and emerging political and civic leaders to the United States. The Academy for Educational Development (AED), in partnership with Sister Cities International, administers the program. The Open World Leadership Center at the US Library of Congress sponsors the program.
Humanitarian Assistance
• Wheelchairs for Peace
In 2002, Sister Cities International and the Wheelchair Foundation embarked upon a five-year initiative to distribute wheelchairs to sister city communities throughout the world. The Wheelchair Foundation has committed a total of $4.5 million in matching funds to be combined with funds raised by sister city chapters to deliver wheelchairs to children and adults in their sister cities living with disabilities.
• US-Iraqi International Partners for Peace Initiative
The "International Partners for Peace" initiative is a new public-private partnership between the US and Iraqi communities. It is designed to strengthen relationships with people in order to cultivate more extensive communications with them, leading in turn to greater cooperation and understanding. Initial efforts will concentrate on humanitarian aid programs. Sister Cities International will organize this initiative with funding support from the US Department of State.
Arts and Culture
• Young Artists Competition
Since 1988, the Sister Cities International Young Artist Competition has engaged youth from around the world in the sister city mission. Young artists use the competition’s yearly theme to express their concept of the quest. Applying their imagination and thoughts to the theme, they creatively convey the significance of sister city partnerships through various images. Recent themes have been “Coming Together to Build a Better World;” “Reach for a Hand, Touch a Heart;” and “No Borders, No Fences… Just Friends.”
Youth and Education
• The Youth and Education Network
Sister Cities International recognizes the role of youth in sustaining current sister city relationships and fostering future partnerships. The Network increases the ability of member communities to design and deliver effective youth and education programs. Members can also find funding opportunities through foundations, government grants, and other potential projects.
• Sister Cities International/Academic Year in the USA (AYUSA) Partnership for Youth Exchange
Sister Cities International and AYUSA International formed a strategic partnership to offer exciting new youth exchange opportunities to its members. Sister Cities International/AYUSA Partnership for Youth Exchange facilitates exchange programs for youth to promote long-term, substantive partnerships between US and international communities.
• Islamic Youth Initiative and Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program
The Youth Exchange and Study (Yes) program, sponsored by the US Department of State, provides full scholarships for students from the Islamic world to travel to the United States for an academic year. The students live with host families, attend school, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, and help educate Americans about their own countries and cultures. The 2004-2005 program includes 220 students from Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank and Yemen. Sister Cities International has formed partnerships with AYUSA, ASSE, and AMIDEAST and iEARN for this initiative.

The World Bank Group considers corruption a major challenge to its twin goals of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity for the poorest 40 percent of people in developing countries. In addition, reducing corruption is at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals and achieving the ambitious targets set for Financing for Development. It is a priority for the World Bank Group and many of its partners.
Businesses and individuals pay an estimated $1.5 trillion in bribes each year. This is about 2% of global GDP—and 10 times the value of overseas development assistance. The harm that corruption causes to development is, in fact, a multiple of the estimated volume, given the negative impact of corruption on the poor and on economic growth.
Empirical studies have consistently demonstrated that the poor pay the highest percentage of their income in bribes. For example, in Paraguay, the poor pay 12.6 percent of their income to bribes while high-income households pay 6.4 percent. The comparable numbers in Sierra Leona are 13 percent and 3.8 percent. Every stolen dollar, euro, peso, yuan, rupee, or ruble robs the poor of an equal opportunity in life.
In addition, corruption discourages poor people from accessing health services and negatively impacts health outcomes, such as infant mortality. It contributes to higher-order crimes: when money is lost through illicit financial flows (IFFs), it often finds its way across borders to fund drug and human trafficking. Its presence works to erode the social contract between citizens and the state.
Economic activity is similarly harmed by corruption – with corruption operating as a strong disincentive to foreign investment. Countries capable of controlling corruption are able to use their human and financial resources more efficiently, attract more foreign and domestic investment, and grow more rapidly. Recent research suggests that there is a 300 percent dividend for improving governance from weak to strong.
The Bank Group recognizes that corruption comes in different forms. It might impact service delivery, such as when police officers ask for bribes to perform routine services. Corruption might unfairly determine the winners of government contracts, with awards favoring friends or relatives of government officials. Or it might affect more fundamental issues of how the institutions work, a form of corruption that is often the costliest in terms of overall economic impact. Each of these forms is important, and tackling them all is fundamental to achieving progress and sustainable change.
Successful anti-corruption efforts are often led by a 'coalition of concerned' – by politicians and senior government officials, the private sector, and by citizens, communities, and civil society organizations. Increasingly, addressing corruption will require the concerted attention of governments and businesses and use of advanced technology to capture, analyze, and share information in order to prevent, detect, and sanction corrupt behavior. Much of the world's highest-value corruption could not happen without institutions in wealthy nations: the private sector firms that give large bribes, the financial institutions that accept laundered money, and the lawyers and accountants who facilitate corrupt transactions. Data on international financial flows shows that money is moving from poor to wealthy countries in ways that fundamentally undermine development. Corruption is a global problem that requires global solutions.
The World Bank Group is committed to fighting corruption in Bank-financed projects, in an effort that involves the work of its Integrity Vice-Presidency. Last year, the Bank’s Integrity department (INT) substantiated investigations that involved 43 projects and 124 contracts worth about $633 million, resulting in 58 sanctioned entities.
STRATEGY
The World Bank Group works at the country, regional and global level to build capable, transparent, and accountable institutions and design and implement anticorruption programs. Our work revolves around changing outcomes by helping both state and non-state actors establish the competencies needed to implement policies and practices that improve results and build public integrity.
Following the Anti-Corruption Summit, May 2016, the Bank Group reaffirmed its commitment to confront corruption as a core development issue wherever it exists and to support integrity in public sector institutions. The Bank Group also agreed to:
build the capacity of country clients to deliver on their commitments to enhance transparency and reduce corruption;
enhance its support for implementation of anti-money laundering requirements and for the recovery of stolen assets, and
extend its work on tax reform, illicit financial flows (IFFs), procurement reform, and preventing corrupt companies from winning state contracts.
The World Bank Group has included Governance and Institutions as a theme in IDA-18 – its Fund for the Poorest Countries – in order to focus global attention on the issue. Read more about the status update on the Bank Group’s commitment at the UK Anti-Corruption Summit.
Regional and Global initiatives:
Leadership in creating international transparency standards (Global Initiative on Financial Transparency, Open Contracting Standard, Asset Disclosure Standards) and support for the implementation of open government (through support for the Open Government Partnership).
Active assistance in the implementation of transparency and accountability efforts such as Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Publish What You Pay, Fisheries Transparency, Anti-Money Laundering rules.
Engagement and active support for international alliances and regional anti-corruption forums, such as the International Corruption Hunters Alliance and LAC Regional Parliamentary Network.
Engagement in international forums on anti-corruption including the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group, the Financial Accountability Task Force, the OECD Anti-Corruption Task Team.
Fighting corruption within World Bank-financed projects:
The Bank Group's approach to fighting corruption combines a proactive policy of anticipating and avoiding risks in its own projects with a commitment to helping clients and stakeholders identify and combat corruption at national and international levels. The Bank Group subjects all potential projects to rigorous scrutiny and works with clients to reduce possible corruption risks that have been identified. Public complaint mechanisms built into projects encourage and empower oversight, and projects are actively supervised during implementation.
The World Bank has a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption in its projects. When allegations of fraud and corruption are substantiated, companies involved in misconduct are debarred from engaging in any new Bank-Group-financed activity. Concerned governments receive the findings of Bank Group investigations. In the past 7 years, the World Bank Group has debarred 368 firms and individuals.
Selected country examples include:
Nigeria — The country was the first African government to implement the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), and one of the first steps it took was a comprehensive audit of the oil sector value chain to verify that all payments were correct and settled. The audit revealed $9.8 billion in outstanding recoverable revenues from 1999 to 2008, including an estimated $4.7 billion owed by the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). As a result of the audit, at least $2.4 billion of the lost revenue was recovered.
India — Some of the country's largest social welfare programs suffered because of ineligible beneficiaries receiving payments and officials taking a cut of or delaying payments meant for the poor. Now the government has distributed smartcards based on the country's biometric identification system to 19 million villagers in connection with the $5.5 billion National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. This reduces the chances for misconduct and gets money faster to the people who need it most. (Checking with SAR for the latest number.)
Dominican Republic — Public officials, civil society, private sector leaders, and other committed citizens formed the Participatory Anti-Corruption Initiative, a forum that gives thought-leaders a unique opportunity to tackle corruption and take on powerful interest groups in many areas, including medicine and procurement. By 2014, reforms in this area had lowered drug prices, improved medication quality and reduced public spending by 64%.

STORY
ROUGE is a Pop Rock Band composed of all young, talented, fresh Filipina Beauties -KARA, PRINCESS, JERI & GYAN. They represent "GIRL POWER!" ROUGE is a group of young ladies who embody the beauty, brain, and the heart of being a musician.
These young ladies rock! To say the least, they sing, play instruments, and harmonize all at the same time! They show their versatility by incorporating light rock songs with classical violin lines to add to the unique musicality of the group. With every performance, they treat the audience with their undoubted charm and skill. The band is composed of four young women who display remarkable musical excellence in both playing their instruments and singing. Apart from the individual roles that they play in the band, these women are also quite accomplished as individuals.
KARA is the bassist and the leader of the group. Her experience from her Indie Music days, to ABS-CBN's Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 exposure, to her International Gigs, honed her to become a versatile and mature musician. She’s a musician in every way and also an outdoor enthusiast. Camping, long-boarding & cycling are only but a few of her hobbies. Her music influence: Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, Plumb, Paramore, Katy Perry, The Cranberries.
PRINCESS is the Violinist. She started playing the violin when she was 10 years old and was a member of the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra Junior Ensemble. She participated in several competitions where she emerged as finalist and/or winner. Aside from playing the violin, she has also won awards for clay sculpture, poetry writing, illustrative story-telling, and expressive reading. Nowadays, in her spare time, she upcycles empty glass bottles and paints them so they can be re-used! How eco friendly! Her music influence: Gospel Hymns, Clssical music (JS Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Bruch, Mozart, etc.), Maria Mena, M2m, Maria and the Diamonds.
JERI plays the guitar. Long before she even learned how to play, she has already been using her God-given talent of singing. This passion for singing led her to pursue it as a profession from the time she entered University. In fact, you might have seen her perform in various bars and restaurants in the metro. Before she transforms into Miss Rockerchic at night, Jeri is a businesswoman and entrepreneur by day. Truly an illustrious being! Her music influence: Up Dharma Down, Alanis Morisette, Katy Perry.
GYAN plays the drums. This girl really is a drummer by heart and boy, you sure will be amazed by her skill and her fancy tricks! Her first competition was the renowned Battle of the Bands with her 2 older brothers at the tender age of 10. Numerous other competitions not just local, but international, then followed this, where she mostly banked the top spot. As if this is not remarkable enough, recently, Gyan landed the top 5 spot (out of 117) for an international on-line contest, Hit Like a Girl. Her music influence: the Pinoy Rock Legends, OPM Bands, Mike Portnoy, Virgil Donati, Joey Jordison
Each member of the band contributes to the character of Rouge, may it be in performing or by simply being themselves on stage. They are ready to rock your world.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!:)

Here we read that the “when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless or arid places seeking rest,…” It appears from this passage that demons travel seeking to habitat waterless places. It appears they seek to avoid water. This could be part of the reason for the absence of the oceans in the new heavens and earth Can you explain why there is “no more sea” in Revelation 21:1?
Most students who approach the book of Revelation from the normal or literal method of interpretation understand the words following the statement about the new heaven and new earth, “and there is no longer any sea” to simply mean that because of the changes in atmospheric and human conditions will be so different water as we know it today will not be needed. The term “sea” is the Greek “thalassa” which is used of all forms of water—the oceans, lakes, etc. There will be a river of water (22:1f) that flows through the New Jerusalem, but this is the only other source of water that is mentioned. This may be because there is some kind of relationship between God’s judgment on demon spirits and the oceans. This may be (note I said, “may be”) indicated by a couple of things:
There is an interesting statement made in Luke. 11:24. Here we read that the “when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless or arid places seeking rest,…” It appears from this passage that demons travel seeking to habitat waterless places. It appears they seek to avoid water. Further, in Luke 8:30-33 we have an interesting occurrence. Speaking to the demon-possessed man:
8:30 Jesus then asked him, “What’s your name?” He said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. 8:31 And they began to beg him not to order them to depart into the abyss. 8:32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside; and the demons begged Jesus to let them go into them. So he gave them permission. 8:33 Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of pigs rushed down the steep slope into the lake and were drowned.
Finally, the judgment God used on the antediluvian world (which was was somehow involved in the sin of a portion of the fallen angels) was water with the earth’s crust breaking up to flood it along with the rain. All of this could indicate a relationship between water—the oceans, or the subterranean levels—and the abyss where certain demons are confined. The swine running into the water—was certainly a judgment—and probably symbolical of Christ casting them into the abyss which is what they did not want. This could be part of the reason for the absence of the oceans in the new heavens and earth. For more on the sin of Genesis 6 and the sons of God (which I believe were fallen angels) see Bob Deffinbaugh’s series on Genesis on our web site.
PRODUCTIVITY TIPS
10 Ways to Increase Dopamine to Boost Your Productivity
By Glenn SantosApril 20, 201511 Comments
Psst, hey you. Want some dope? What do you mean you don’t do drugs? Hey hold on, don’t call the cops on me!
Okay, I see the confusion. I actually meant dopamine. Isn’t dope short for dopamine? No? Huh, you learn something new everyday.
Increase Dopamine = More Productivity
What’s dopamine? Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that our brain produces to nudge us into doing stuff. It’s the main reason why we can focus and achieve great things even if the payout isn’t immediate or obvious.
And don’t worry, you can’t even take dopamine since it’s something your brain produces for itself. But what you can do is increase dopamine in your system to help you stay focused, productive and motivated. If you want to be productive and get things done, here’s a few ways to boost your dopamine levels.
1. Discover New Things
Dopamine production is actually triggered when we find something new and exciting in front of us. Our ancestors would experience it when discovering new herds to hunt or new plants to harvest. Unless you’re a naturalist, it’s probably going to be hard to do those things. But we do have the internet.
The internet is a treasure trove for discovering new music to new videos. A simple dopamine booster is browsing Pinterest or even Amazon for new products and items. A word of caution: it will get addictive so make sure to limit your time on sites like these.
2. List Down Your Small Tasks
Dopamine is also released after you finish something, whether it’s a big job or a small task. So it follows that To get more hits, break down those big jobs into smaller ones.
And as I said above, you need to list down those tasks. It’s not that I don’t trust you to remember your todos, it’s just that it’s much more satisfying, dopamine-wise, to check stuff off a list physically. Nothing is more satisfying than ticking off something as done.
3. Listen To Music
Studies have shown that if you listen to music you really enjoy, the brain releases dopamine as a response. Even the anticipation of hearing that music also increases dopamine levels, which is probably why you see all these crazy lines in front of music stores.
4. Increase Your Tyrosine
Tyrosine is the building block of dopamine, so make sure that you have enough of this protein in you. Fortunately, it’s easy enough to find this. Here are some common foods that have loads of tyrosine:
Almonds
Avocados
Bananas
Beef
Chicken
Chocolate
Coffee
Eggs
Green Tea
Milk
Watermelon
Yogurt
I’m pretty sure you have enough of these in your diet, and some of these are foods you actually enjoy.
5. Reduce Your Lipopolysaccharides
Lipolypo, lipopopoly, lipoly-what again? It’s a hard word to pronounce (and write for that matter) but that’s a good thing because you want to avoid it. These are also called endotoxins and yes, it is indeed a toxin. Basically, if you have too much of these, your immune system will go haywire. More importantly, it inhibits the production of dopamine.
The best way to combat this is by having more good bacteria than bad in your gut. How do you do that?
Eat lots of probiotic foods, mostly fermented foods like yogurt, kefir and kimchi.
Get enough sleep so your gut can keep up with you.
Don’t overindulge in fatty and sugary foods. The name says that it’s built from lipids and polysaccharides, so less of those means less endotoxins.
6. Exercise Often
I’ve already written a lot about how exercise helps you destress and makes you super-productive. It’s because physical activity is something your body craves (even if your conscious brain hates it sometimes). To make it fun for you, your brain actually releases fun chemicals like serotonin, endorphins and yes, dopamine.
The great thing is even non-strenuous exercise can help increase dopamine levels. Try taking the dog out for a walk, climbing some stairs, or busting out the Wii Fit.
7. Establish A Streak
A streak is just a visual reminder of how many consecutive times you achieved something. In games, it’s often used to track wins but you can also use it in everyday activities for the added dopamine boost.
The easiest way to do this is to take a calendar and put an X in the box everyday you do something, like cleaning your desk or eating a healthy lunch. Soon enough, you’ll have a neat row of X’s there to show off as your streak.
Having a streak increases dopamine production in the same way completing a task does. While you haven’t completed the entire goal, just knowing that you’re going in the right direction makes your brain give you enough of a dopamine burst to keep on going.
8. Take Dopamine Enhancing Supplements
While you can’t pump your brain with dopamine, at least not until we have home brain injection kits, you can take supplements that encourage your brain to produce more dopamine. Here’s some of them:
Curcumin, the active ingredient in our favorite curry spice turmeric, helps increase levels of dopamine.
Ginkgo Biloba is a popular wonder drug and though it’s not proven, it might help increase dopamine levels by making it stay in your brain longer.
L-theanine increases neurotransmitter production in your brain, one of which is dopamine. Green tea has lots of this, though it can also be taken as a theanine supplement.
Acetyl-l-tyrosine is a production-ready version of tyrosine which will make it easier for your brain to create dopamine.
9. Make Stuff
Have you noticed that when you’re deep into a creative work, you enter a state of hyper-focus where you feel you can do anything? That state is called flow and it’s something that dopamine helps you achieve.
Increasing dopamine can be as simple as taking up a creative hobby like photography, crafting, auto repair or drawing.
10. Meditate
Sometimes the best way to do something is by doing nothing. Specifically, you do nothing physically but in your mind you’re trying to sort out your thoughts. Whether you meditate, pray or do simple self-reflection, all these activities are linked to increased dopamine levels.
Dopamine is an addictive chemical but in a good way. It’s helps motivate you in doing things you need to do, even if you don’t want to do them. And have you noticed something? Most of the things I mentioned above are actually activities that also make you more productive, since that’s essentially what dopamine does.

How to Increase Dopamine
in Your Brain Naturally?
Low dopamine levels can
lead to lack of motivation,
fatigue, addictive behavior,
mood swings and memory loss.
Learn how to increase
dopamine naturally.
There are about 86 billion
neurons in the human brain.
They communicate with each
other via brain chemicals
called neurotransmitters.
Dopamine is a major
neurotransmitter thatรญs a
key factor in motivation,
productivity, and focus.
Itรญs dopamine that provides
the zest for life.
Unfortunately, lifestyle habits,
diet, and illness can deplete
your dopamine, sapping the
joy out of life.
If you arenรญt living life
to the fullest, a low dopamine
level may be the reason.
And there are many ways you
can increase dopamine naturally.
In this video youรญll discover:
The effect of dopamine on
your brain and the symptoms
of a dopamine deficiency.
Unhealthy ways to increase
your dopamine levelHow to increase dopamine with
food and lifestyle changes?
How to harness your brainรญs
reward system to increase
your level of dopamine?
Let's now watch this video.
What Does Dopamine Do?
Dopamine has been called
the รฌmotivation molecule.รฎ
It boosts your drive,
focus, and concentration.
It enables you to plan
ahead and resist impulses
so you can achieve your goals.
It gives you that
รฌI did it!รฎ lift
when you accomplish
what you set out to do.
It gets your competitive juices
flowing and provides the thrill
of the chase in all aspects
of life รณ business, sports, and love.
Dopamine is in charge of your
pleasure-reward system.
It allows you to experience
feelings of enjoyment, bliss,
and even euphoria.
Too little dopamine can leave
you unfocused, unmotivated,
lethargic, and even depressed.
Dopamine is so critical to
motivation that dopamine-
deficient lab mice
lack motivation to eat.

http://www.katespring.com/ - How To Turn Her On With Body Language
Hey YouTube, Kate Spring here, dating and relationship coach from Victoria, BC. A lot of you have been asking me how to turn a girl on with your body language. And that is an excellent question! This is one of the best ways to simulate some attraction between you and a little miss. Honestly, there is nothing better than those butterflies that you get in your stomach when you start to develop feelings for someone and their touch becomes electric!
Body language is your non-verbal way of communicating with people. It is equally as important as your verbal communication. Whether you believe me or not, I promise you that we interact and we judge people based on this type of communication whether consciously or unconsciously. Having positive and engaging body language is key to putting yourself ahead in the dating world.
Just before we get started, make sure if you have any questions at all to please leave them in the comments below and I’ll be sure to get back to you, personally, as soon as I can! And let me know of other topics you want me to cover.
The best thing to remember, and I can’t stress this enough, is to make eye contact with her. Strong eye contact communicates to people that you are more dominant and powerful than say someone with shfity eyes or someone who is unable to hold eye contact. That type of person is understood as insecure.
If you can make eye contact with a woman, she will perceive you to be warmer, likeable and approachable. And when you are speaking with a woman, and you are able to hold strong eye contact with her, it makes a girl feel like you are only paying attention to her, which you should be. One at a time, it’s like when you were little and your mom would only let you have one cookie at a time. Same thing applies here.
When you are looking all around the room and not at her, she will become disengaged and probably not want to continue talking to you because through your eye contact, she feels like you would rather be elsewhere. So smile and face her with an open body posture. Don’t cross your arms in front of you, and start asking her questions about herself. These are the basics! Women are extremely receptive to body language. And this is your first step in turning her on with body language.
Ask yourself, “what am I trying to accomplish with my body language?” Or “what am I trying to communicate through my body?” And, remember, you’re trying to communicate that you are a confident man with a lot to offer a woman!
You also want to communicate interest and enthusiasm, not in the way where you stare at her and talk too close to her face. That will just make her uncomfortable and most likely force her to clam up. Women are attracted to power. You can communicate this by taking up space. What I mean by take up space is be big. If you’re sitting down don’t cross your legs or arms. Be open and sit with your legs apart and maybe even your arm on the chair next to you.
If you are feeling flirty, and the situation feels right, you could slowly bridge the gap of space between you two. For example, soft touch on the shoulder, or guiding her to the bar with your hand at the small of her back is a good place to start. If she is interested in you and is also exhibiting some positive body language, then she will welcome this kind of touch.
Attraction is best built in the body, but to learn how to continue to build attraction when you aren’t face to face, head over to katespring.com/free and pick up a copy of my Attraction Building Handbook, which is completely free by the way.
Alright, if you want to know a little secret, Amy Cuddy gives a TED Talk about how body language shapes who you are. She suggests that before you are going into a job interview, in this case I’m going to say date, or any time you’re feeling nervous and or small, make yourself big and hold that pose for 2 minutes.
Make yourself stand in a power pose. This could be with your arms straight up in the air or a superman-like pose. She says this has proven to make people feel more confident. So if you are finding yourself nervous, and you need an instant confidence boost, try this! I guarantee you that women will be more attracted to the confident version of yourself.
Another way to turn women on is to be calm. Because women are attracted to powerful, confident men, if you are calm, she will mirror your reactions. Being calm means listening, having a relaxed body posture—one that isn’t rigid and still, but is loose and friendly.

Eye contact is important because it creates a sense of interest between people as long as it's not starring with a grimace on your face LOL But what if you have severe ADHD and you've been a observer all your life and your just interested in downloading knowledge from all around you? Oh look a magnificent piece of art, what's that guy doing sleeping naked in the corner? Did i eat breakfast this morning? Geez she's cranky who shit in her cheerios this morning? :P

BRICS summit in Xiamen brings China, India closer

The 9th BRICS Summit opened here Sunday, bringing together representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and beyond in this picturesque coastal city to strengthen South-South cooperation and give a greater voice to the world's emerging economies.[Special coverage]
Even the intermittent rain did not dampen the positive mood at the summit, which runs from Sunday to Tuesay. In particular, the summit is indirectly serving as a venue to help mend ties between China and its neighbor, India, after the recent border standoff between the two countries.
UPBEAT MOOD
"I think the trend is good, everybody is optimistic," said Atul Dalakoti, executive director of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, who spoke to Xinhua right after attending the opening ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum on Sunday afternoon.
The Indian businessman commented on Chinese President Xi Jinping's remarks in his speech at the opening ceremony that "new growth drivers are yet to emerge" by saying, "we need to think outside the box and look at new engines of growth so that we can push the economic development."
"I sense more internal optimism and external confidence," Robert Lawrence Kuhn, a prolific China expert and observer, weighed in by email Sunday night.
The chairman of the Kuhn Foundation believed that the "optimism" and "confidence" are driven by two factors: the improving economic situation of several of the BRICS members and China hosting the summit, "which increases the visibility, publicity and international interest."
Although he admitted that fundamental differences exist among the BRICS countries, the American expert said that "what unites them is stronger than what divides them," adding that he believed BRICS is playing a role in resolving the differences.
Swaran Singh from the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University remarked on the recent friction between China and India and how that did not get in the way of the friendly and cooperative summit atmosphere.
"Even China-India differences have been carefully kept aside and not allowed to intervene in their multilateral cooperation," he said in an email interview with Xinhua, calling the resolve of the Dong Lang military standoff "a sign of their (China and India's) diplomatic maturity as major powers."
CHINA & INDIA AS BRICS BUDDIES
As the second-largest BRICS economy after China, India is very active in helping enhance capacity- and skill-building among developing nations, for example in Africa, Singh said, noting that it has been a big investor in recent years. BRICS is an ideal opportunity for India to contribute to global governance structures and help empower other developing nations, the professor said.
Singh believed that BRICS is clearly having a positive effect on economic engagement between China and India. Last year, bilateral trade volume exceeded 70 billion U.S. dollars, and China has become India's largest trading partner.
Although the two countries' trade shows a deficit in China's favor, he was confident that BRICS would be able to address such challenges. He also noted that recently there has been an enormous increase in China's promised investments in India.
For his part, Dalakoti pointed out the rapid growth of China-India trade over the past 15 years. He saw BRICS as having a "very, very positive" theme of people from five continents trying to work together and as China and India being equally important members within the bloc.
SHARING KNOWLEDGE
Many summit participants regarded China as an example to follow for other developing nations, for instance where poverty alleviation, renewable energy and the environment were concerned.
"China has in the past 30 years taken at least 500 million people out of poverty, I think we need to do that in India also and then in Africa, so there's a huge potential for growth," Dalakoti said.
Dalakoti, who is also in the Energy and Green Economy Working Group, mentioned India's efforts in promoting clean energy and combating pollution. "India has set up very good targets and met the targets in advance, and now we are looking at setting up 100 smart cities," he said. In that regard, China and India have common goals. "So I think there is a lot we can do, and we can learn from the experience of the Chinese," he said.
In an interview with Xinhua on the sidelines of the summit, the BRICS' New Development Bank (NDB) chief K.V. Kamath also suggested other BRICS countries should learn from China's past success stories.
"In China's case, what the NDB has learned is success with renewables, which we then try to see whether we could take it to other countries," he said. He called this an example of "shared knowledge from our member countries."
BRICS GOING FORWARD
The BRICS nations originally enjoyed a reputation for rapid economic growth, but some critics have argued that BRICS is losing its steam. That idea, however, doesn't seem to be very convincing to some.
Singh suggested that BRICS still very much remains a good alternative to existing institutions as it offers a new model of financial governance and is even helping transform conventional Bretton Woods financial institutions. He said the NDB and Contingency Reserve Arrangement are proof of what BRICS can and is doing with their rapid decision-making, financial support in local currencies, and no-strings attached policy.
The BRICS example has already led to some reforms in World Bank and International Monetary Fund voting rights and has encouraged BRICS enterprises to evolve their own genre of financing, investments, technology transfers and market management distinct from Western multinational corporations' patron-client culture, Singh said.
"BRICS is surely seen today as the only grouping, along with the G20, that can redeem the global economy from its continued slowdown," the professor added.
Dalakoti believed that BRICS could help raise awareness of the importance of globalization, especially as some countries are reverting to isolationist and protectionist policies.
"We all need globalization, we all need to work together, we all need a lot of investments in our countries," he said, "So I think the whole theme of globalization is the bedrock of what we are talking about at BRICS today."
